I’m a native Californian who has deliberately chosen to live in the Deep South.  I guess you could say I have steel magnolia aspirations.

Other pertinent bits:  sober since age 29 (sobriety date July 26, 1991 — you do the math); voracious reader; nerd; secular humanist; soprano; liberal; actor; nerd; ex-smoker; wannabe gardener; introvert; nerd; This Old House fan and home improvement show junkie. And let’s not discuss that serious addiction to Stanley Kubrick films, the History Channel, or Stargate SG-1.

Oh, and I want to run away with The Doctor. At first, the runaway partner of choice was the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant). Then the Eleventh (Matt Smith) won me over with his child-like joy in the midst of sorrow. I’m also a huge fan of the Second Doctor (Patrick Troughton) and have thoroughly enjoyed the grown-up Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi) since his regular series debut.

Did I mention nerd?

Ahem. Soooo, anyway….back to the crafty-type content.

My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was a young girl.  In November 2006, I returned to the art of crochet after a 20+ year hiatus, and picked up knitting needles at the same time. There’s only one drawback: I spend a lot less time reading now.

And don’t listen to my husband.  There’s no such thing as too much yarn. Or too many books.
